The Hamptons have long been synonymous with luxury living, but the community that extends across the area’s many towns and villages is what contributes the most to it being a great place to call home. Built around gathering for festivals, events, fundraisers, and outdoor recreation, the Hamptons' local towns have community calendars filled with seasonal festivals. If you’re interested in East Hampton luxury real estate or Southampton real estate, get to know a few of the many ways to get involved as a member of the community. From neighborhood 5k races to elegant galas, the Hamptons have something for everyone.

1. The Annual Hamptons Happening

Those investing in East Hampton luxury real estate won’t want to miss this key event. The Hamptons Happening is an annual gala hosted by the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation that takes place each summer to raise money for further cancer research. It’s a night spent honoring business owners while inviting the community to network and enjoy a wide range of food and beverages from local restaurants. So far, the foundation has raised more than $100 million for research into cancer developments, treatments, and cures. The Hamptons Happening is an important event to keep on the community calendar and one that allows residents to give back in a significant way. Tickets to the event are available, and locals can donate to the Samuel Waxman Foundation or become a sponsor to gain entry.

2. The Hampton Classic

One of the biggest outdoor horse shows in the country, The Hampton Classic, is another summer event that takes place over Labor Day weekend. Many contenders look forward to the Hampton Classic each year, as it's known for its elegance and competitive rigor. The show hosts hundreds of individual horse competitions ranging from youth and amateur rides to Olympic-level races. At the end of the event, there’s the incredible Hampton Classic Grand Prix, a high-stakes series of races that awards the winning team $410,000. The Hamptons are a horse-loving community through and through, with numerous stables and ranches spread across the island. Each year, the Hampton Classic seeks to bring that community together for a weekend of prestige and excellence in riding.

3. The Southampton Race of Hope

If you’re investing in Southampton real estate, know that you can participate in the annual Race of Hope, which aids the Hope for Depression Research Foundation. Whether you prefer to walk or run, you can join in on the 5k race that loops around Lake Agawam. It’s an event that brings together members of the Hamptons community and visitors from across the tri-state area. The first 500 runners or walkers (and those with strollers or dogs are welcome to participate) to sign up are gifted with a race kit, complete with a jacket, shirt, hat, and more. You can race knowing that 100% of the proceeds from sign-ups and donations go towards furthering depression research. The race takes place early in August.

4. Concerts in the Park

Those who own Southampton real estate never miss the annual Concerts in the Park series at Agawam Park and Cooper’s Beach throughout the summer. Put on by the Southampton Cultural Center, the concert series presents local musicians and tribute bands in the style of Pat Benatar, ELO, and others. Residents can also catch plays in the park, featuring classic Shakespearean titles like Much Ado About Nothing and The Adventures of Pericles. Bring a blanket, snacks, and a drink or two to sit back and enjoy the evening.

5. East Hampton Village Summer Festival & Fall Festival Weekend

Owning East Hampton luxury real estate means taking part in all their seasonal festivals, including the Hamptons Summer Festival, a great opportunity to sample more local vendors, support small businesses in the community, and take in live music, art shows, and car shows. Live entertainment is always a big draw, and the weekend makes for a great day out with family or friends.

Similarly, East Hampton also puts on the annual East Hampton Village Fall Festival Weekend. Taking place in Herrick Park, this food, art, and music festival is open to the public and runs over a weekend at the end of October: This year’s event runs from the 28th through the 30th.

6. Fishes and Wishes New Year’s Eve Party

For families who want to celebrate the new year in a unique way, there’s the Fishes and Wishes New Year’s Eve Party, a child-friendly NYE party at the Long Island Aquarium. The event includes a cocktail hour along with a dessert and ice cream bar. Kids can participate in several arts and crafts workshops or dance the night away with the DJ playing family-friendly favorites. A buffet dinner is served with beer and wine options for Mom and Dad, while a mocktail midnight toast rounds the night out.

7. New Year’s Eve Laugh, Dine, and Dance

Held at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead, this NYE event is a staple of the community and a favorite of those who love comedy. Long Island Comedy brings in three acts to headline the night alongside an elegant dinner and plenty of dancing. A one-of-a-kind way to ring in the new year, New Year's Laughin’ Eve isn’t one to miss. Even if comedy isn’t your thing, tickets for standing room only are available after 10 pm. Enjoy the best of music and dancing while celebrating the end of the year with a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight.
